Whew! January flew by! With the help of my ever-giving husband, we got settled back from Ohio and into our routine quickly. We sent Sergio to the dentist (first time since we have new dental insurance), enrolled Sergio in swimming lessons, enrolled Olivia into a Day School, advanced Olivia from high-chair to booster seat for meals, and have dealt with our first big home repair.
The "Day of Service" we had 5 different service personnel come to our home to do some work. The day went something like this: breakfast, get the kids upstairs with snacks, doorbell, kids snacking while I am downstairs monitoring the service men, up and downstairs all day long, monitoring, more snacks, maybe a meal (lunch) in front of the tv/movie while more service repair men come and go, nap, two more service men stop by, and then to my sweet relief, quiet in the house. No more fix-its and the fans have gone home. Again, quiet in the house. Sweet silence and then Joe and I go to work putting back furniture. By the end of the month the house is 90% put back together. I got to have a new furniture arrangement and carpet cleaning out of the big burst ordeal. We updated all the picture frames in the house and have started updating, cleaning out, and organizing our home.
The kids have adjusted to our new furniture arrangements very well. Sergio is clever as ever with his deep passion for playing with cars. They have taken a new liking to my coffee table picture books and picure albums. Several minutes of quiet go by and I look over the couch to see my sweet little ones looking at dolphins and some old choo-choo. Contentment.:)
Adjustment should have been the title of the blog as the month of January has been an adjustment. It always takes almost a week for me to adjust/switch gears from Ohio to Texas. As always, I shed a tear or two, but kept busy which helps me keep moving. Sergio has a new goal: learn to swim=swim with dolphins. He likes his swim class and has graduated to the second level.:) We are working on child number 2 with potty training. Olivia has gone #1 & #2 on the little potty chair. Of course, not with consistency, but we are excited for her little attempts and overjoyed with her achievements! Olivia has graduated from 100% home life with her adoring mother to a little school. Sending Olivia to a day school has been hard, really hard for me. I still get a sinking feeling and hate to send her away. She is doing beautifully with her new gig at this fabulous school with a fancy accreditation. Both kids will go next year together. Now I have a day with Olivia, a day with myself, and a day with Sergio. Balance.:)
