My spring break in Ohio was fun! Considering I am more than a month behind I am blogging the highlights of my trip: flying a kite at the metro park, throwing rocks in the river, checking out a pregnant walleye fish, go karts, showering uncle D with so much affection, riding a cool motorized motorcycle, not riding a bike that Papa had to do some work on, playing hoops with Zach, zoo trip/train ride, kids got to go to Imagination Station with Nana and Papa, and lots of time in the basement.:) Mom came from OHIO TO TEXAS (hence the title) with us on the airplane. Once again, the kids were great! Mom enjoyed seeing the kids schools, swimming at the pool, park play, the Guadalupe SP, making Olivia hair clips, errands with me, and spending Olivia's birthday with her (Kiddie Park and Cake with Olivia event), and Mothers Day with me.
Unfortunately, on Olivia's birthday we found out her friend, Isabela, was in the PICU. At Olivia's neighborhood birthday gathering we had an informal prayer service followed by a balloon launch. Tragically, she passed away from bacterial meningitis on Mothers Day. It has been devastating to me, to say the least. My mom and I made a poster for the funeral home. I don't have the right words to describe how hard it was to visit them in the hospital, the viewing, the funeral, etc. I know it has been painful because Olivia was only 13 days older than Isabela. It could have been her or another little person. I have my daughter, but my friend had to let God take hers. I can't get that out of my head. The Day School made a plaque with Bela's picture and planted a Red Bud tree named the Bela Tree. It was a sweet little service with all the kids there for Azhavee. I keep praying for Azhavee and Agustine that they continue to find the peace and comfort of God in all of this. They are doing great, but need your prayers too.
More of my month of May to follow...
